Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) works just like a regular phone line. The difference is that when you make a call using VOIP, the signal travels over the Internet instead of an analog signal through telephone phone lines.

 

If you are calling a typical or standard phone number, telephone signal seamlessly moves from the internet to the analog line to reach the other phone. With VoIP, you can make a call from a phone designed specifically for VoIP directly from a computer, or a regular phone connected to an adapter.

 

The freedom of VoIP allows you to make calls via wireless and wi-fi in places like airports, parks, hotels, and coffee shops.
